Taught by the engineers who do the work

Skydome Learning is the training practice of Skydome Consulting. We teach enterprise voice, networking and security to the teams that run them.

Why we teach

Skydome Consulting has designed, repaired and migrated enterprise voice, network and security systems since 2006. Teaching came with the work from the start: a system we hand over is only finished when the customer's team can run it.

That became a practice of its own. We have more than 20 years of training experience, and it has taught us what does not work: a course that follows the product manual, a lab the attendees only watch, and a class pitched at nobody in the room.

So we build each course for the team in front of us, we teach it ourselves, and every topic ends with the attendees doing the task on working systems.

How we think training should work

Teach the job
A course is organized around what an engineer has to do, with the theory placed where a task needs it.
Everyone does every lab
Small groups, so that no attendee leaves having only watched.
Instructors who do the work
The person teaching has designed, broken and repaired the systems being taught.
Say what is not covered
An outline states what the course does and does not include, before you commit to it.

Describe the team, what they run, and what is changing. An instructor will read it and reply with questions or an outline.
